Emerging Writers Festival releases huge 2018 program (Under embargo until 6:15pm 15/5/18)

The 2018 Emerging Writers Festival (EMF) program has been released, and it’s the biggest to date.

From June 19-29 there’ll be events all across Melbourne, from the CBD to Dandenong – more than half of which are free.

Aspiring writers will want to check out one of the many masterclasses, which include non-fiction and podcasting workshops, as well as the two-day writers conference, featuring novelists like Isobelle Carmody and Michael Mohammed Ahmed.

There’s also plenty of events for those who prefer to read, watch, listen (and party), including the Queer Icons drag night, and the Winter solstice celebration on Thursday June 22.

Other noteworthy listings include the Pan Afrikan Poets night at Loop Project Space & Bar on Wednesday June 27, and Opening Night: New Gold Standard, where winners of the Monash Undergraduate Prize for Creative Writing will be announced.
