We love EWF very much and are glad to see that they’ve expanded to an 11-day programme with 50 events across this fine literary city.
Festival Director Lisa Dempster (she does such a fine job!) has got young Scottish writer Alan Bissett on the lineup, as well as a whole bunch of fun special events including Tram Tracks, a literary performance on the 86 Tram, featuring Steven Amsterdam, Josh Earl, Allison Browning, Maya Ward, Xavier Michelades and Danny Walsh. There’s also Get Into Genre which focuses on genre writing and Freeplay which brings play and storytelling together.
Slide Night includes Oslo Davis, Tom Doig, Dale Campisi and Leanne Hall with travel stories (20 slides, 20 seconds each) and Dirty Words is all about sex writing and erotica with Linda Jaivan, Sisters Grimm and Lou Sanz. There are various workshops, a hot-to-trot opening night gala, the Page Parlour zine fair, the 48 Hour Play Generator and the 15 Minutes Of Fame EWF book launch stream.
On top of it all, the EWF’s digital presence has been greatly improved and will feature live-tweeted interviews and an improved website.
