Oh my fucking god Larry Heard is coming to Melbourne. For the very first time Mr. Fingers himself has been booked in for a sojourn Down Under. To make it even more exciting, this all comes after a 12-year hiatus from performing, and the Melbourne show will be just his second live performance since announcing his return to the stage. To be perfectly honest, if you need an introduction then you don’t deserve to be at this gig. With his seminal output on labels such as Trax, Gherkin, DJ International, Black Market and Housetime (alongside his own Alleviated Records), Heard is one of the most influential names in the game to ever roll the dice. Acid, house and techno – nothing has ever been off limits within his oeuvre. He’ll be performing live with support coming from Gigi Masin, Gaussian Curve and Music From Memory label heads Tako and Jamie Tiller. It’s going down on Saturday September 10 at the goddamn Melbourne Town Hall. Seriously gig of the decade material right here.

Childhood friends Philipp Jung and Patrick Bodmer otherwise known as M.A.N.D.Y. have locked in their return to Melbourne. The duo, who back in 2002 founded the Get Physical imprint with DJ T (Thomas Koch) and Booka Shade (Walter Merziger, Arno Kammermeier and Peter Hayo), have helped foster the careers of the likes of Claude VonStroke, Andhim and Blond:ish. Alongside playing basically every festival and club across the planet, the two have also had their own productions find homes on Cityfox, fabric, Great Stuff and Renaissance. Catch ‘em on Friday August 19 at Brown Alley.

One of Italy’s foremost DJs and producers Pirupa is coming our way later this month. Weaving a meticulous blend of house and techno within his productions, he’s a regular on labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Desolat, Get Physical and Defected, and has secured himself a fan base that boasts the likes of Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice and Marco Carola, to name a few. Over the course of his career he’s also been called up to remix the likes of Jamiroquai, Riva Starr and NiCe7. Catch him for a day party on Sunday July 24 at Revolver Upstairs.

Tour rumours: a little birdie tells me that it won’t be all too long until we finally see the return of Kerri Chandler. Chez Damier wouldn’t go astray too, hey? Lock and load.

Best releases this week: it goes without saying that y’all need to get yourself a copy of Omar-S’ Desert Eagle (on FXHE Records) but holy shit is the artwork terrible, while Objekt’s Kern Vol. 3 (on Tresor Records) is one of the best mixes I’ve heard all year. Otherwise I’d suggest spending some time with Lindstrøm’s Windings (on Feedelity Recordings), BNJMN’s Droid (on Delsin) and Segue’s Over the Mountains (on Silent Season).
