Dr. Martens announce collaboration with Joy Division and New Order

drmarten.jpg

In what may just be the most British thing to ever happen, iconic boot-smiths Dr. Martens have teamed up with two of the UK’s most influential bands for their Dr. Martens X Joy Division and Dr. Martens X New Order lines.

Britain was a breeding ground for all things music back in the day, and you can’t have punk or rock without a pair of Docs, so this match is one made in heaven. The designs see the bands’ iconic album art emblazed onto pairs of Dr. Martens classic 1460 boots, finely crafted down to the last detail.

Dr. Martens X Joy Division shows off the band’s Unknown Pleasures cover embossed onto an all black boot, giving the signature artwork a 3D effect. The Dr. Martens X New Order collection pays tribute to the band’s 1983 album Power, Corruption & Lies whose cover features an oil painting of flowers by Fantin-Latour. The suede leather boot gives a textured look to mimic the look of an antique canvas painting. The line also includes New Orders’ colourful Technique album art in a shiny, vinyl-look leather.
