Melbourne's beloved Discrepancy Records in Mont Albert North have been one of COVID-19's success stories, with the shift towards online generating huge growth.
The store’s seamless transition towards the online experience, boasting one of the best online record stores in Australia, has paved a path for others to follow. But it just isn’t quite Record Store Day without some actual crate digging, so they’re now encouraging everyone to get back out there and hold the vinyl in your hands before you make a decision.
This Record Store Day they’d like to invite you to venture to sunny Mont Albert North where they’ll be opening their doors and welcoming you in-person for the first time since RSD back in 2019.
Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.
This year they’ve literally ordered everything on the RSD lists from Australia, Europe and the US – so there’s a very good chance that whatever you are looking for they’ll have it.
They’re still processing shipments coming in and getting confirmations on what’s heading their way over the next few days, so checkout their website and Facebook pages for updates in the run up to RSD. In the past few days there’s been some very special drops from George Michael, Daft Punk and Slipknot, so we recommend keeping your eyes peeled.
As well as a great range of RSD titles, they also have a freshly restocked store covering every genre and some special deals on throughout the day – again check them out online and sign up for their newsletters, you won’t be disappointed.
“The shop will be open in the run up to RSD so if you’re in the area pop in and say ‘Hi’,” Paul says. “We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday – we’re open from 8am to 5pm at 2A Milne Road, Mont Albert North. While you’re in the area checkout Madame Sourdough just a few doors down from us – best bread and pastries for miles!”
