Dan Sultan doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon as he announces a series of intimate shows supporting his Killer album. This tour will reach both metro and regional areas in Australia from March to June and strips Sultan back to the basics, Sultan, his piano and his guitar. The eighteen-date tour goes through Castlemaine, Upwey’s Burrinja Theatre, Meeniyan and St Kilda’s Memo Music Hall in April before coming back to Geelong, Cardinia and Healesville in May. Tickets are available Thursday January 25.
Every performance will see an acoustic reimagining of Sultan’s latest release, Killer, which hit a number five ARIA chart debut. The acclaimed album includes singles ‘Hold it Together’, ‘Kingdom’, ‘Magnetic’ and fan favourites ‘Cul-de-sac’ and ‘Reaction’. Not to mention Sultan’s previous hits from Blackbird, Dirty Ground, Get Out While You Can and Homemade Biscuits).
Overlapping with his solo tour, Sultan has released details of a project he has been working on and there’s sure to be more information coming soon. Right now, we know the Melbourne musician is joining forces with Camp Cope, A.B. Original, Meg Mac and Gang of Youths’ Dave Le’aupepe.
“I can’t wait to hear the reworked versions of my songs from some of my favourite artists,” says Sultan.
To add to the organised chaos of Sultan’s schedule, he has just signed with progressive US label AntiFragile (home to British India) who will release Killer in the US on January 26.
“We feel very fortunate to have just signed Dan Sultan,” says AntiFragile President Tom Sarig. “Dan is an incredibly talented, unique vocalist and songwriter who I think can have a worldwide breakthrough with us. His songs are heartfelt and emotionally real and urgent. I got chills the first time I heard ‘Kingdom’ and we are overjoyed to be working with him.”
