Australian electronic icons Cut Copy have announced their seventh studio album Moments for September release.

The Grammy-nominated, ARIA award-winning Melbourne outfit will release Moments on Friday 5 September via Cutters Records and The Orchard. The announcement arrives alongside new single When This Is Over, which showcases the band’s continued evolution across electronic, synth pop and rock territories.

Moments represents a homecoming for Cut Copy, featuring sonic vignettes shaped by a free-wheeling approach to music-making. The album traverses electronic to synth pop, crossing trip-hop and rock sensibilities between, all connected by the band’s desire to make sense of life’s ups and downs.

New single When This Is Over contrasts electronic and real life sounds, featuring organic grooves from electric drums and bouncing synthesisers. The track includes a children’s choir from Candlebark School in Romsey, conducted by Georgia Brook and recorded by James Cecil from Architecture in Helsinki. The collaboration creates a thumping choral bridge that builds into an instrumental breakdown designed for live performances.

Cut Copy’s return began in April with singles Solid and A Decade Long Sunset, both appearing on the forthcoming album. The band will perform hometown and interstate shows following the album’s release, including appearances at Forum Melbourne and special events in Sydney and Brisbane.

Formed by Dan Whitford as a bedroom recording project, Cut Copy expanded to include guitarist Tim Hoey, drummer Mitchell Scott and bass player Ben Browning. Their discography spans six studio albums, with previous releases including Grammy-nominated Zonoscope and ARIA chart-toppers that established their reputation as one of Australia’s most beloved electronic music exports.
