Counting Crows not only made an impression in Australia with the release of their 90s gem August And Everything After, but it’s safe to say that Australia had a positive impression on them.

“I would always be excited about a trip to New Zealand and Australia,” says vocalist Adam Duritz. He also said that Australian originals Gang of Youths are “the best fucking band in the world,”. It’s safe to say that the US rockers have utmost enthusiasm about us.

Not only have they made waves in Australia, but they’ve also sold 20 million records worldwide since their beginnings in the early 90s. Perhaps one of their biggest moments was their release of a track for Shrek Two Accidentally in Love. It earned them an Academy Award, a Golden Globe nomination, and a Grammy Award nomination.

Their latest album Butter Miracle Suite One is an especially restricted album in the sense of production. It doesn’t feel overtly busy, it focuses more on songwriting and acoustics more than their past work.

Duritz gains more from his vocals on this album, an unobstructed medium has opened for his words to play. For a band this late in their career to make changes so vast, you can’t deny their craftmanship.
