The Amity Affliction have announced a huge headlining tour of Australia for this October, and they’ll be taking Gold Coast’s Skyway and huge international act Asking Alexandria with them. They’ve booked in two shows at Melbourne’s Billboard on Wednesday October 12 (18+) and Thursday October 13 (underage). This is gonna be one epic tour, and the addition of UK’s wunderkinds Asking Alexandria is going to be a very interesting addition. I hate to buy into the whole oversensitive, knee-jerk reaction to a music video that was obviously created to bait moody, irritated types like myself, but damn their new music video is a piece of shit. In case you haven’t stumbled across it, in the miserable depths of the interwebz, it shows the band going out for a big night on the turps, and ends with lead singer Danny suffering from a pretty graphic overdose in the slums of some LA dive bar. We’re even treated to some high def close ups of his frothing, quivering lips. GET FUCKED. Every bitch and moan hereafter can obviously be tempered with a hefty dose of “DON’T TAKE IT SO SERIOUSLY”, but these guys have a dangerously young fan base and they are genuinely glorifying drug and alcohol abuse to the point of death. Their singer is even engaging is some sweaty, smacked out sex when it happens. No one wants to see this. No one thinks it’s cool. This is tired, and tasteless and daaaaamn, these guys are gonna be embarrassed to watch this in 10 years time.
Anthrax/Damned Things guitarist Scott Ian has jumped online and had a crack at notorious Sony Records boss LA Reid after he reportedly requested that “all ugly people” be fired from the label in order to “keep it sexy”. LOL! Damned Things bandmate Joe Trohman also tweeted, “I can’t believe I had to work with this person. What an awful human.”
No Use For A Name’s Tony Sly has announced he’ll be releasing another solo album titled Sad Bear, and that it will be released via Fat Wreck Chords. Can’t really say the title is that endearing. His recent Melbourne show with No Use…, however, was apparently tip top. So perhaps there’s life in the old dog yet.
The Bronx’s more flamboyant (and arguably more successful!) alter ego, Mariachi El Bronx are now streaming their second studio album in the weeks leading up to its official August release. Check out their Myspace to hear the whole glorious record from front to back.
Title Fight and Touche Amore have announced that Break Even will be supporting them on their upcoming, controversial Australian tour. You can also catch Melbourne staples Daybreak when the tour rolls into Melbourne’s Billboards on Saturday September 10.
Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello has revealed that he will release another solo album under the guise of The Nightwatchman, titled World Wide Rebel Songs. Just what the world DIDN’T need.
