The date of Melbourne’s Evening With Anberlin has been changed to Monday August 29 at The Palace Theatre. Tickets are already on sale for this one.
Tour dates have unofficially leaked online for a Frenzal Rhomb tour with Fat Wreck band Teenage Bottlerocket. We can safely assume this headlining tour will be in support of Frenzal’s newest album which they just finished recording in the USA. Angsty, bearded folk around the world got their knickers in a knot last week when Rise Records gleefully announced that they had signed Hot Water Music for the release of their new album. Rise, generally known for signing scenester bands like Dance Gavin Dance, Attack Attack, and Emarosa caused an uproar upon announcement leading bassist Jason Black to reply, “Rise wanted to do the record more than anyone else. They just have it going on right now. They’re selling more records than anyone else. They’re still kind of fearless with their attitude. A lot of other labels are scaling back and trying to re-evaluate their gameplan where Rise is just trying to keep going and going.”
Monster Magnet have announced that they’ll return to Australia this September to play their classic album Dopes To Infinity in it’s entirety as well as some of their greatest hits, or in singer Dave Wyndorf’s words “a complete trip from beginning to end”. Monster Magnet play at The Palace Theatre on Friday September 16. Tickets go on sale this Friday.

A bunch of your favourite bands will be contributing covers to an upcoming Bob Dylan tribute album for Amnesty International. So far we know Bad Religion and Rise Against have signed up to be a part of the project, meant to celebrate Dylan’s seventieth birthday and Amnesty International’s fiftieth anniversary.
The ever dour and depressing Morrissey has let rip on the state of the recording industry after struggling to find an appropriate label to release his new album. He’s (rather accurately) stated: “The entire ‘industry’ has been destroyed in a thousand ways…People no longer know the top 75 charts and what they do know of them they don’t trust because chart placing are so fixed, everyone on the planet mysteriously flies in at number one now. The music press has died because of Internet People Power; everyone is now their own critic. As a consequence there are no risks taken with music anymore – no social commentary songs, no individualism -because everyone is deemed instantly replaceable”. Lols. I love it when old people hate on the internet.
