Melbourne International Comedy Festival is bringing some of it best acts to the suburbs this year, and it's all starting at Thornbury Theatre.
Hilarious Japanese stand-up Takashi Wakasugi, songwriter and star of The Chaser’s War on Everything, Andrew Hansen, 2021 RAW Comedy National Champion and 2022 Comedy Zoner Prue Blake, and 2021’s Best Newcomer Nominee Anna Piper Scott are all coming to Thornbury Theatre on Friday March 18 for a top-notch night of suburban comedy.

The whole extravaganza will be hosted by everyone’s favourite Venezuelan, Ivan Aristeguieta. It’s the first in a series of Comedy Festival gigs, titled the Neighbourhood Sessions, that are going down all around Melbourne’s perimeter in 2022.
Following Thornbury, the Festival will venture to Bunjil Place in Narre Warren on Saturday 19 March, where the lineup will shift to two-time Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, Carl Donnelly (UK), and feature Kirsty Webeck, Takashi Wakasugi, Emma Holland (as seen on Have You Been Paying Attention?) and rising star Dahn Rozario. Hosts and line-ups for Werribee, Footscray, Moorabbin, Preston and Broadmeadows will be announced soon.
The whole series runs across four weekends from March 18 until April 8, and with MICF backing, you can expect to see familiar faces regardless of which lineup turns up in your area. It’s an awesome initiative, and considering the broad talent on offer, the $28-40 tickets are damn good value.
