Cloud Control: Zone

Two brilliant albums released then a long wait always makes fans nervous. Could Cloud Control really match the lofty heights of Bliss Release? Or the immensely brilliant Dream Cave; the album that showed they were not a band that delivers a smashing debut and can never follow it up.

Zone has allayed any such fears fans may have had or questions critics may have wondered. From the lush swirling sounds of the title-track, it’s clear that Cloud Control took their time for a reason and sure as hell spent it wisely. While sounding distinctly like a Cloud Control record, the album soars ito new heights by layering sounds, harmonies and soundscapes to tremendous effect.

The brilliance of the album is once more illuminated on the eclectic Mum’s Spaghetti, where the band again make you question what you think they should sound like. Hands down, this is one of the best albums of the year and easily one of the best Australian releases of the decade.
