The grants are part of the City’s commitment to support the arts, and open to all artists, arts and community organisations for projects in any art form that take place in the City of Melbourne in 2016.

This year for the first time, the City is offering a series of Arts Residencies as part of the program. These provide the opportunity for artists to work within the Council’s Arts and Heritage Collection and Creative Spaces Program to develop and expand their practice in any art form.

The City’s Arts and Culture Portfolio chair Councilor Rohan Leppert urged artists and organisations to get involved.

“Melbourne is one of the world great arts cities and as highlighted in our Arts Strategy 2014-17, the City of Melbourne is committed to ensuring this remains the case well into the future,” he said.

“These grants support artists so they can test, develop and execute their projects and ideas. Artists make a vital contribution to Melbourne and I encourage Melbourne’s arts community to take a look at the program and apply.”

The deadline for applications is Monday June 15. For more information visit their website or call 9658 9658.
