Jess writes songs and brings them to practice sessions we all try and throw around a few ideas to see what sticks, it’s highly experimental and lots of fun!
We started out about 5 years ago members have changed but what makes Secondhand Heart has stayed the same. We are all good friends and everyone is always very open to new ideas and trying just about anything.
Lily and John met at a music course in Ballarat, they had some spare time similar musical tastes and decided they should put together a band. Since then we’ve changed and evolved into what we are today
There is always room to improve as a musician, but at the moment we make music that we like and that challenges us and hope that people enjoy
If we weren’t doing this we would all be doing something within the creative industry – art teacher, film director or hula hoop performer.
The collaborative process of making music together and how special it is to see songs evolve into something unexpected is what makes us happiest about being in a band.
The unhappy times can be driving long distances with massive hangovers, photo shoots in the rain, eating tuna 5 times a week.
Our proudest moment was holding our first EP and seeing the finished product.
The least proud was probably playing a gig on the night we left Meredith with zero z’s, forgetting lyrics and looking like zombies. A lesson well learnt
We are launching our EP on the Friday August 26 at the Grace Darling and have shows in Ballarat and Geelong on Friday September 9 and Saturday September 10.
