Musicians from ANAM have curated a performance around Ron Mueck's momentous and confronting work 'Mass'.

Curated by Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) musician Lily Bryant, ANAM at NGV: Ron Mueck will respond to Ron Mueck’s installation Mass and its theme of death. The program spans everything from Debussy and Schubert to more contemporary pieces, with performers occasionally moving through the audience. It all goes down tomorrow, August 6 from 2pm at the NGV and entry is free!

Ron Mueck is an Australian sculptor known for his hyperrealistic sculptures that often reference the human body. Constantly playing with scale, his works as engrossing as they are captivating. Mass, which premiered at the 2017 NGV Triennial, is on display now at the Ian Potter Centre at Federation Square until January 15 2023. With the work comprising of 100 large-scale resin skulls, the ANAM at NGV performance takes place in and around the momentous and confronting installation.

ANAM at NGV: Ron Mueck is curated by Lily Bryant, the recent winner of the Australian Youth Classical Music Competition. It features performances from Lily Bryant (flute/curator), Clare Fox (clarinet), Matthew Garvie (keyboard), Reuben Johnson (keyboard), Alisya Rae (voice), Ethan McAlister (electric guitar), Rachael Kwa (violin) and Oliver Russell (cello). Dedicated to shaping the career of Australia’s best emerging musicians, the Australian National Academy of Music often presents events in partnership with the National Gallery of Australia.
