Floyd Thursby composes songs that explore themes of love and death, vibrant nights and tranquil days, sacred experiences and mundane life. His 2019 album, To Those in Flames, received critical acclaim, while his 2020 release, The South Lands, which includes collaborations with Vietnamese singer-songwriter Mademoiselle, was nominated for the Best Intercultural Act at the 2021 Music Victoria Awards.
As a composer, he has worked on the score for the feature film The Death & Life of Otto Bloom as well as several short films. In addition to his solo work, he performs with the renowned French gypsy jazz group La Mauvaise Réputation and is involved in a new project called Skiffle Party.
His most recent album Every Day’s Another Dance is a return to his folk and acoustic roots as will be his Storytellers show with Dan Witton on double bass and Harry Lye on vibraphone.
