The beloved movie theatre is reopening its doors.
Yesterday, Cinema Nova changed their cover picture on their Facebook page with an image of Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck dancing down the outdoor stairwell taken from the acclaimed 2019 picture, Joker. Alongside it, a message read, “We’re back from June 22”.
The announcement comes off the back of the news that from 11:59pm on June 21, the State Government will “allow indoor cinemas, movie theatres, concert venues, theatres, arenas, auditoriums, stadiums to open with up to 50 patrons per space”.
With the restrictions set to lift, the cinema has been working away at its first screening schedule for when it returns. According to their website, they’re promising screenings of The Room on the first Friday after restrictions are lifted, as well as a costume meow-along of Cats on the first Saturday.
The following weekend, Cinema Nova will present a The Rocky Horror Picture Show singalong on the Friday and The Big Lebowski dude fest on the Saturday.
