Cake will play five shows around the country this March, marking their first Australian tour in 15 years.
Cake, the lunchbox-loving oddballs of American alt-rock are making their long overdue return to our shores.
The tour, billed as An Evening With Cake, will feature two full sets pulled from the band’s expansive back catalogue, with staples like The Distance, Short Skirt/Long Jacket, Never There, Frank Sinatra and I Will Survive all likely to make an appearance.
Formed more than three decades ago as something of a reaction against the sounds dominating the charts at the time, Cake have built their career on independence, democratic decision-making within the band and a sound that refuses to sit neatly in any one genre, blending rock, funk, country, folk and pop into something entirely their own.

When they’re not touring, Cake write and record out of their solar-powered studio in Sacramento, a space that reportedly generates more power than it uses.
The band have also long paired their live shows with a bit of environmental action, giving away a native tree sapling at every headline gig through their ongoing CAKE Forest initiative.
The band are currently putting the finishing touches on their ninth studio album, expected in 2027. The record will include the track Billionaire in Space, which first surfaced during a session for Texas Public Radio.
Whatever else changes, Cake’s commitment to doing things entirely on their own terms hasn’t wavered in three decades, and this tour looks set to prove exactly why the band have built such a devoted following across genres and generations.
