Brunswick is getting drive-thru burgers and booze on rollerskates

Welcome to Brunswick is launching a drive-thru with rollerskating staff on Friday and Saturday nights.

Brunswick’s new retro destination is called ‘Welcome to Drive-Thru’.

The new project in Brunswick’s Frith Street borrows heavily from 1950s nostalgia, serving up traditional comfort-food fare from Mr Burger, Belles Hot Chicken, Penny’s and the Brunswick Mess Hall.

It will be served to punters in their cars from Thursday to Sunday, however if you want the novelty of being served by rollerskating stuff, you’ll have to go on a Friday or Saturday night.

In addition to the food, they’ll also be serving alcohol and promise a rollerskating drive-thru disco, with a vegan night on Thursdays.

Welcome to Brunswick’s open-air garden bar, launched by the 100 Burgers Group (same folks from Welcome to Thornbury) has been forced to look for new ways to reach customers as Melbourne’s been plunged into their sixth lockdown.

The group have been active throughout the pandemic however, recently announcing that they’ll be taking over Brunswick’s much-loved live music venue The Penny Black, renaming it Penny’s.

The food that’s being supplied at Welcome to Drive-Thru is an amalgamation of all the new Welcome to Brunswick venues, that will combine to create one of the more alluring Brunswick haunts when Melbourne finally returns to freedom.
