The Red Sunset tour kicks off in New Zealand before crossing the Tasman for five Australian dates. Runga will be supported by guests Silicon at all shows except the Wellington performance with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. The title track Red Sunset is out now, described as a torch song exploring longing and the experience of being left behind. Previous singles from the album include It’s Like Summertime and Paris in the Rain, the latter written on the final night of a winter trip while watching rain fall on the Louvre Pyramid.

Runga’s career spans more than two decades, beginning with her 1997 debut Drive which went multi-platinum in New Zealand. Her 2002 album Beautiful Collision became one of the country’s biggest-selling records, featuring tracks like Get Some Sleep and Listening for the Weather. She’s won multiple Tui and Silver Scroll awards and is the youngest inductee into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.

The new album sees Runga working again with Kody Nielson, who handled drums, bass and synth duties alongside production and engineering. The record was mastered by Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone at Sterling Sound and will be distributed by The Orchard. The tour is funded through NZ On Air and supported by the NZ Music Commission.

Multiple presales begin on 24 November including artist, Live Nation, Mastercard and Spotify options, with general public tickets available from 25 November at 11am local time.
