Bergy Bandroom sees a big line-up for May, with album and EP launches, cabaret extravaganzas and parties for a great cause.

Want folky jazz electronica? Surf psych? Hyperpop metalcore? Egg punk? There’s fresh sounds, local acts and a trans-Tasman visitation bringing funk-soul worship to the masses. Come down and rock on at the Bergy Bandroom.

Much Love returns with an epic lineup to raise funds for Safe Steps, a 24/7 family and domestic violence crisis support center. Known for hosting legendary house parties in Kensington, Much Love is bringing back some of their favorite acts for this great cause. The lineup includes Psychobabel, Jack Harlon & the Dead Crows, Dopplerhaus and Overthinker, plus DJ sets post-show. Party hard and do some good.

Bolty Faults Autos proudly presents Frog Impostor’s debut single launch, Verde. Fresh from a Sound NSW-backed European tour, this Muloobinbah prog-folk trio blends folk, drum and bass, jazz, Latin and electronica. The band, comprised of Niamh Bellicanta, James Hodgett, and Tim Evans, will be joined by special guests throughout the performance, as well as supporting acts: all-female punk-jazz powerhouses Riff Raff, emotional songwriter Remember the Circus and ambient groove project Packed With Haste.

Catch The Mundaynes, Melbourne’s six-piece post-punk, new wave rising stars, as they celebrate the release of their debut EP at the Bergy Bandroom. They list Shame, Talking Heads, and early INXS as influences and they’re known for delivering killer live shows with passion. Joining them are gritty post-punk rock-and-rollers Exiles and De Porsal, spanning egg punk, jangle pop, blues, and funk.

Go goth for a good cause. It’s a night of dark revelry at a very different fundraiser, with proceeds going toward gender-affirming surgery for local goth Hazel. Featuring a killer line-up of gothic, psychobilly, electronic and punk bands, the night will bring performances from Hypno Sex Ray (Cramps tribute), Howling Mountain (grunge/stoner rock), One Whole Hand (Gothic/New Wave rock), Hope in the Static (post-punk, shoegaze), Helvetica Scenario (Sisters of Mercy covers) and Teeth Dreamer (ambient electronic). Haunting drag acts shall entertain between sets. Dress in your best bloodied, corseted and fang-ready attire.

Local emo-punk band Bukowski return to the hometown stage for a night of ferocity off the back of the release of their debut album, I Don’t Wanna Live. I Don’t Wanna Die, released independently in February. With emotionally charged tracks like Superweak, Sow and What Do You Want Me To Be, expect raw energy and heart-wrenching lyricism you’ve come to expect. garage-punk duo Sophisticated Dingo and local act Crawling will join them for this killer gig.
