Beacs will be dropping the final track from the EP, I Don’t Even Know What’s Right, on Wednesday 30 April before the official launch celebration.

The four-track release kicks off with I Don’t Even Know What’s Right, a piano ballad that reflects on personal and collective uncertainty, drawing sonic inspiration from John Lennon’s solo work and The Beach Boys’ arrangements.

The EP continues with the title track Motel Maybe, which delves into unrequited love, before flowing into Till the Sun, a slow-burning exploration of loneliness in unfamiliar surroundings. The collection concludes with Start Again, which captures the tension between surrender and reinvention from the perspective of someone coming to terms with hitting life’s reset button.

The Sunday afternoon launch event will also feature performances from Melbourne acts Ellen James and the Waning Crescents, who bring their strange, melodic folk stylings, and Maxwell Brady, whose psychedelic pop sounds evoke both Syd Barrett and Mac DeMarco.

Beacs describes his sound as reimagining the past to help make sense of the present, with influences ranging from The Beatles to Simon and Garfunkel and Nico.

The Motel Maybe EP arrives after the recent release of the third single Start Again, which hit streaming platforms last week. Tickets for the launch show are available through Humanitix, with all booking fee profits going to charity.
