Entries are now open for the 2011 Cancer Council Arts Awards.
Every year, the Cancer Council opens its doors to Australian artists to express their experiences with cancer in their own creative ways. There are many different categories available: Short Story or Poetry, Film, Visual Art, Youth and Children’s Art and Writing and Indigenous Art.
The competition is open to all Australians, young or old, who have had an experience with cancer, either themselves or with a loved one. Cancer Council Spokesperson Irene Manitta said that is a good opportunity to help express the feelings people go through when they live through the illness.
This year’s theme is “I Am” and entries will be judged by Tony Wilson and Arnold Zable. A range of works entered will be displayed in an exhibition in July throughout Victoria. Entries close Friday April 8.
