Animal Collective have teamed up with Coral Morphologic, an art-science duo comprised of marine biologist Colin Foord and musician J.D. McKay, to create their latest project — a full-length audiovisual album titled Tangerine Reef.

The album celebrates the International Year of the Reef this year, using visual and audio samples of underwater creatures, spanning imagery of coral reefs and aural depictions of the vibrant ecosystems which exist under the ocean’s surface to depict the reefs that inhabit Earth’s oceans.

Tangerine Reef comes as part of Animal Collective’s wider project of contributing to a multitude of ocean conservation projects, including past incentives with shark conservation and marine protection. The album will be released on streaming services and CD, with the full-length film to hit the band’s website upon release.
