An Evening With David Sedaris

His sold out run at Edinburgh’s International Fringe Festival has called for celebration, and what better way to enjoy his success than to visit Australia for the third time and try New Zealand out. Sedaris will perform in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Auckland in January next year with each performance followed by a question and answer time, alongside book signing. Sedaris is known for his best-sellers Barrel Fever, Holidays on Ice, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim and When You Are Engulfed in Flames as an author and essay writer. Seven million copies of his books have been made and translated into 25 languages. Editor of Children Playing Before a Statue of Hercules: An Anthology of Outstanding Stories alongside regular pieces in The New Yorker, and twice included in ‘The Best American Essays’, it’s no wonder his latest book, a collection of fables titled Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Wicked Bestiary was published and immediately placed on the NYT Bestseller Fiction List. Collaborating under the name “The Talent Family” Sedaris and sister Amy have written half a dozen plays produced at La Mamba, Lincoln Centre, and The Drama Department in New York. Sedaris can also often be heard on This American Life in his original radio pieces. Having been nominated for three Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word and Best Comedy Album, his latest audio recording of new stories titled David Sedaris: Live for Your Listening Pleasure is worth a listen.
