There’s only a few days left to apply for The Music Industry Pathways program. If you didn’t know that then it sure is lucky you’re reading this, because The Music IndustryPathways program might be the best platform for any young people who want to launch themselves into the music industry. It’s got everything you need including one-on-one mentoring, tailored masterclasses, networking as well as an opportunity to work closely with The Push on their annual Face The Music conference. The program runs from March to November. Head to The Push’s website and fill out the form to apply.
You might have heard that St Kilda Festival is on next Sunday February 12, which is pretty cool but did you know that The Push have their very own stage there? It’s going to be a pretty hot stage, with a serving of great tunes from Bleeding Knees Club, Mallrat, Birdz, Alexander Biggs and Hollie Joyce, as well as the2016 FReeZA Push Start Grand Final. With finalists from all over Victoria ready to battle it out once and for all. Head to The Push stage at the shiny new Acland Street Pedestrian Mall and bask in the heat of it all. Even if you don’t manage to make it to The Push stage, St Kilda Festival is still super cool and completely free and definitely worth going to. You can see acts like The Smith Street Band, Ecca Vandal, Gretta Ray and Daryl Braithwaite and more. On the topic of cool free gigs, PBS 106.7 is running a whole heap of really good ones all next week, from Monday February 6 until Friday February 10 with Drive Live 2017. It’s five afternoons of frantic live performance fuelled broadcasts in front of a live audience that you can be a part of. Every day has bands catered to fit a different mood and genre with some really good artists like Gabriella Cohen, ORB, The Peep Tempel and Shrimpwitch all live at PBS headquarters in Collingwood. While all Drive Live 2017 gigs are free, they do have a limited capacity so if you want to go you’ve got to head to PBS’ website and RSVP.
