“The MTC debut was such a great experience,” says Kingsley. “It’s always been a dream of mine to perform with that company and I got the chance to do it with so many people that I love which was so terrific.”

His theatrical background serves as the foundation for a comedic style that transcends traditional stand-up. Blending humour and music, Kingsley expresses both the absurdities of modern life and genuine moments of self-discovery that come with trying to “get it together.”

The show follows Alister as he navigates his new life as an “organisationally challenged person in recovery”. From Google Tasks to the simple joy of having two sets of pillows, audiences are taken on a rollercoaster ride of laughter and reflection through the chaos of relationships and growth.

“I love making people laugh with this show, but I also love building a feeling of connection in the room,” Kingsley explains. “I think a feeling of community is important. So with this show, I’m not just sharing funny experiences; I’m also poking fun at things that we all struggle with sometimes. I think people appreciate the chance to laugh together about that stuff.

“Life’s chaos is something we all deal with.”

While lighthearted on the surface, the performance is grounded by an emotional core. Kingsley mixes quirky musical numbers like Reading Strangers’ Texts with more tender moments such as Two Christmas Mornings, showcasing the complexity of life’s unpredictable nature.

With 13.6k Instagram followers and over 3 million views on videos of his live comedy, Kingsley has built an impressive online presence. However, it’s his in-person performances at venues like The Butterfly Club and the Melbourne Cabaret Festival that have cemented his reputation in the local comedy scene.

Critics have described his style as “imaginative” and “original,” with some comparing his musicality and sharp wit to early Tim Minchin. His ability to blend music, comedy, and personal vulnerability makes him a standout performer on the Melbourne circuit.

“My comedy brings together a lot of different aspects,” Kingsley says. “It’s theatrical, musical, and also personal. I’m a fan of authenticity in life generally but also in comedy, something that feels real and human. I want people to laugh, but I also want them to leave feeling like we’ve shared something together.”

Get It Together represents the culmination of Kingsley’s theatrical training and growing desire to connect with audiences in a meaningful way. As his following continues to expand, he remains committed to authenticity in everything he creates.

“It’s all about sharing a moment with the audience. We’re all in this funny mess together. And if we can laugh about it, that’s something special.”
