We’re big fans of Wills, previously reviewing a show at The Toff as follows.

“Her voice is masculine in its delivery but not its tone and it’s quite incredible. Wills began the set solo with her Epiphone Les Paul, quietly and slowly chocking muted chords out across the bandroom. It was almost more percussive than melodic but provided the perfect backing to her voice, the strength of which is not thick so much as rich, and carving. Wills followed this intro with deep, beautiful washes of guitar that sounded like you were two leagues under the sea and the chords we coming to you through the hull of a boat sitting on the surface.”

She’ll be hosting a very special guest as well, in conversation with Penny Moodie (author of The Joy Thief).

Penny is a writer, OCD advocate and mum of three tiny people. She has a background in media and communications and has previously worked as a communications specialist in the mental health, non-profit and health communications sectors. Penny has a Masters of Global Media Communications. She lives in Melbourne with her kids, husband, and a disastrously naughty black Labrador. Penny co-created the website soocd.com.au to help others navigate the world of OCD.

This event is part of ALWAYS LIVE, a 17-day state-wide celebration of contemporary live music supported by the Victoria Government through Visit Victoria.

The Ballroom is also teaming up with ALWAYS LIVE to help raise funds for their 2023 charity partner Support Act. This means that $1 from each ticket sold will be going directly to Support Act and the amazing work they do with music workers, artists and crew.
