It’s first time that the Berlin-based musician has been back in Australia since 2014, returning for a show at the Melbourne Recital Centre on October 13. Her most recent album, Myopia, was completed as a one-woman project in her Berlin home studio and explores the themes of trust and doubt. Released through Deutsche Grammophon, Universal Music Group’s Yellow Label and the legendary Blue Notes Records in the US, Myopia is an album that beautifully experiments with ambient instrumentals to create an abstract picture of a human soul.

Philharmonics, her first studio album released in 2010, won Best Debut Artist and Best Album at the Danish Music Awards. A complete smash hit across the continent of Europe, it is currently registered at six times platinum in Denmark, platinum in Belgium and France and Gold in the Netherlands. With her influences spanning from American rock and roll singer Roy Orbison to French composers such as Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Erik Satie, Obel is known for her ethereal blend of styles and genres to create something truly unique.

Tickets for the show go on sale Tuesday May 3 at 11am. For more information about Agnes Obel’s tour of Australia, head here.
