In some very cool news for indie game lovers, ACMI are staging a world-premiere live concert of Melbourne's award-winning videogame 'Untitled Goose Game'.
ACMI, House House and Orchestra Victoria are teaming up to bring us Untitled Goose Game Live – a live concert performance of Melbourne-made, indie game sensation Untitled Goose Game.
For those of you unaquainted, Untitled Goose Game is an indie puzzle videogame featuring a rather horrible goose that was designed and released by Melbourne developers House House in 2019 and had viral success, going on to sell over a million copies and nab composer Dan Golding a nomination for Best Original Soundtrack at the 2020 ARIA Music Awards.

It’s since gone on to win acclaim here and overseas, making House House the latest in a very proud history of Melbourne indie game developers to do so, which makes it a fantastic project for ACMI and Orchestra Victoria to get involved with.
The idea behind the live concert is that Untitled Goose Game will be projected onto ACMI’s cinema screen alongside a live accompaniment by musicians from Orchestra Victoria. The feathered star of the game will then proceed to create the familiar chaos, calamity and hilarity in a small village, however this time it will be set to a new arrangement of Dan Golding’s soundtrack created exclusively for this event, featuring works by classical French composer Claude Debussy. During the performance, the musicians will react live to the actions of the player, making for a one-of-a-kind experience for fans of the hit videogame.
“When we created the music for Untitled Goose Game, we created a system to simulate what it would be like to have a live musician sitting by the side of the player, providing a live soundtrack,” Golding said. “Now, with Orchestra Victoria and ACMI, we no longer have to simulate it – we have the real thing. I’m incredibly excited to see this world-first performance in Melbourne.”
