A retro gaming festival is hitting Melbourne

Lovers of retro gaming, rejoice — this one’s for you.

Melbourne’s laneway precinct will transform into a retro world complete with lurid 80s-gamer styling, an arcade full of every old school game you can think of, a live progressive game-art mural, an augmented reality scavenger hunt with over $10,000 worth of prizes, and more.

Open daily, the free event will see Melbourne flooded with retro games including Space Invaders, Mario Kart, Pong, Donkey Kong, Frogger and more.

Plus, those up for the ultimate showdown can take on their friends and foes on the big screen.

There’s also a Nintendo-themed candy bar opened late and ‘Power-Up’ vodka-based syringe shots will ensure gamers start their engines with a bang.
