A new riverside dining precinct is coming to Melbourne

Yarra Bend is on the upward, with plans to instate a huge new dining precinct in the aim of making the suburb a rival to the likes of Northcote’s strip of High Street eateries. Acclaimed local chef Scott Pickett, the brains behind Estelle Bistro and Saint Crispin, has jumped on board with the project – putting his foodie expertise to use to help curate the district.

The riverside dining strip will consist of a 2000 square meter hub of restaurants, bars, cafes and gourmet grocers, providing a plethora of dining options for Melburnians. The project is part of a wider objective to turn Yarra Bend into the most liveable suburb by 2025 with the developments also set to include apartments, townhouses, cultural hubs and facilities such as parks, gyms, pools and bike paths in the area.

The Yarra Bend upgrade will also see the area becoming the world’s first Tesla Town, which means that the area will utilise Tesla Powerwalls, which is exactly what it sounds like – energy-storing walls –  and solar panels in all buildings, as well as providing electric car charging stations.

The projected completion date of the new dining precinct is 2020 which, at the rate this year has flown by, is pretty much tomorrow. Get ready for a heap of new Northside dining options.
