A new dance venue space has just opened in Brunswick

Brunswick
Words by Staff Writer

Keeper Brewing in Brunswick East has added a new dance music venue above their independent brewpub on Weston Street.

The intimate first-floor space features the sound system from Hopkins Creek Festival’s Bait Shop stage, promising a premium audio experience within a small-capacity room. Local artist Hanakotoba has created custom floral installations, alongside smoke and lighting to enhance the atmosphere.

UK producer Poly Ritmo will headline the new space’s upcoming event, supported by Melbourne Deep Cast residents.

The upstairs venue represents a natural evolution for Keeper, which has positioned itself as a community hub since opening. Founded by Australian craft brewing pioneer Phil Sexton alongside his son Harry (now head brewer) and industry veteran Andy Dunn, the brewery has built its reputation on traditionally crafted pilsners.

“We are in the heart of Brunswick East geographically, but are striving to be in its heart metaphysically too,” states the brewery’s website.

While the upstairs space appears to be focusing primarily on Saturday night events for now, the brewery’s taproom continues its regular Thursday through Sunday operations.

The Swedish disco producer Storken will headline the SUPER GALA event at Keeper Upstairs for his only Melbourne appearance this Saturday night, supported by DJ Ingrid, Eric Stark, Slumdog, Brontesaurussex, DJ Lou Rose and GREETINGS.
