With sets from Norwood and Cassells, Frankie Upstairs are launching their first official gig tonight.

Celebrate the launch of a new, boutique music venue in the heart of Southbank with their first gig with Norwood and Cassells. A leafy-green, super versatile loft space, Frankie Upstairs is a yoga studio by day that transforms into an intimate performance space at night. With a love of live music and the communities that connect us, Frankie Upstairs is set to be a staple of Melbourne’s music scene.

What you need to know

  • There’s a new live music venue coming to Southbank and they’re hosting their first gig tonight
  • Cassells and Norwood are playing at the Frankie Upstairs launch party
  • Every ticket includes a complimentary Four Pillars gin & tonic on arrival!

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

First up at 8pm is an acoustic performance from folk-duo Norwood. Having united over their shared love for Neil Young, Gillian Welch and The Dead Tongues, they’re inspired by the resonant sounds and stories of country and folk music. Hot off the back of supporting The Slingers at Brunswick Ballroom, this isn’t a show that you want to miss.

Blending alternative and folk stylings with signature baritone vocals, Ballarat-based artist Cassells is heading to Frankie Upstairs for his first headlining gig in Melbourne. With sentiments of love and loss, metanoia and world-weariness characterising his music, he’s the perfect solo act to sip your free G&T to.

Oh yeah – you get a free Four Pillars gin & tonic included in the ticket price, or a non-alcoholic option if you’re going dry this July. So, what are you waiting for? Grab a (free!) drink at this intimate event and celebrate the launch of a new venue in the heart of Southbank.

Doors are at 7:30, with Norwood Music on at 8pm and Cassells performing at 9pm. Get your tickets by heading here.
