A Guy Called Gerald For New Year’s Eve

Breaking beats since 1988, he’s one of acid house’s first and foremost producers whose breakout anthem Voodoo Ray pretty much defined the UK’s Summer of Love way back when, as well as helping the emergence of jungle and drum and bass when that kicked off. Working to bridge the gap between the UK’s dance scene, Detroit techno and Chicago house as well, his stylistic versatility has ensured his enduring influence – with dudes like Frankie Knuckles, Goldie, Finley Quaye and Derrick May through to Herbie Hancock all demanding to collaborate with him. We’re really not able to fit in all of his accolades into this tiny little column – trust us when we tell you that over twenty years of experience certainly counts for something.
