A Collingwood car showroom has been transformed into a market and roller disco

Collingwood market

A former Honda showroom on Hoddle Street in Collingwood has been transformed into an artisinal market and retro roller disco, with monthly events starting on July 31.

The inaugural Collingwood Artisan Market, by Melbourne market company ‘Bourne Local, is set to kick off on Sunday July 31 and will feature a retro roller disco, homegrown Victorian stallholders, offering a mix of eclectic and eco-conscious fashion, accessories, home décor and beauty. ‘Bourne Local say the venue has had a thorough makeover, with an industrial chic backdrop and all-weather space.

The market will take over the former Honda showroom site at 21-53 Hoddle Street in what the owners say will reinvigorate Collingwood’s east-end monthly for the remainder of 2022. Vendors include the likes of Daffi Leather, offering handcrafted leather belts and products, Faux & Belle, slinging faux fur fashion items and SÃO Homewares, with ethical and handmade homewares from independent artisans and indigenous Brazilian communities.

Stallholders, food and music

Better yet, visitors will have the chance to skate and dance their way around a full-size roller rink hosted by Le Roller Disco, the Collingwood locals behind the suburb’s roller disco scene. There’ll also be live music on July 31 from local nu-jazz band the JK trio, as well as eclectic beats from PBS darling DJ Shio.

There’ll be food and drinks on offer from Cheeky Rascal Cider as well Rollies Doughnuts for baked foods, Hamsa Hummus Bar for plant-based feasts and Crêpes-Oohlicious. The Collingwood Winter Artisan Market will be the first in a themed series – the owners are hinting at mulled wine in winter and fresh flowers in spring – on the last Sunday of every month, running from July to December.

Doors are open from 11am-4:30pm, and entry is free. To find out more, visit https://bourne-local.com.au/
