A bathe-in hot springs cinema is coming to Victoria next week

Words by Talia Rinaldo

Peninsula Hot Springs’ bathe-in cinema is back!

At the end of the working week, there’s nothing better than a good, long soak. Luckily, Peninsula Hot Springs has just revealed the return of their much-loved outdoor cinema, which bathers can view from the comfort of their own mineral bath.

What you need to know

  • The Peninsula Hot Springs are running an outdoor cinema
  • The screenings will run on Fridays in February
  • Punters vote for what movies will screen

Keep up with the latest local entertainment news here.

Commencing next week, the Mornington Peninsula hotspot will be screening classic films in its bathhouse amphitheatre cinema.

This year’s season will run every Friday of the month, with a special Valentine’s Day screening on Sunday February 14 for all the romantics out there. As for what’s on, each film will be decided by a public poll on the Peninsula Hot Springs Facebook page. The choices include the likes of 10 Things I Hate About You, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Are We Officially Dating?, Sixteen Candles and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Voting for the films closes on January 31 and the final program will be published on February 1.

Screenings are free with bathhouse bathing, which costs anywhere between $20 to $150 per person (depending on what you book) and can be booked in advance.

The springs are estimated to be over ten thousand years old, with water rising 637 metres from below the earth’s surface and heated naturally by the earth’s core. The springs are high in magnesium, boron, potassium, and sodium, all naturally occurring in the geothermal waters.

Definitely worth getting a little pruny for this one!

The cinema runs from Friday February 5 – Friday February 26 2021. For more info, check out the Peninsula Hot Springs website.
