A 20th century ball with serious Brunswick vibes is happening this month

Brunswick Ball

Reimagining the splendour of a 20th century ball for the modern era, the Brunswick Ball is a new staple on the social calendar of those in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

If you’ve always swooned over the romantic exhibitionism of balls and galas – the height of Victorian social graces – but shied away from their poncy, inaccessible nature, the Brunswick Ball is the perfect annual event for you.

An initiative of the Sydney Road Brunswick Association (SRBA), the Brunswick Ball stems from the success of the Vintage Ball last year, which encouraged attendees to don their best retro and op-shop finds for a resplendent night of music, performance, food and fashion.

The Brunswick Ball

  • Date & Time: Thursday 15 June, 7pm to 12am
  • Venue: Brunswick Ballroom, 314 Sydney Road
  • Theme: Vintage Ball x Brunswick Vibes

The Brunswick Ball now promises the same as a yearly event, showcasing the eclectic offerings along Sydney Road Brunswick’s plethora of vintage stores and boutiques. It will be staged at the perfect local venue, the Brunswick Ballroom, on Thursday June 15 from 7pm to midnight with a theme of vintage ball meets Brunswick vibes. That leaves the floor open to looks from any period or style, but needless to say, dressing up is essential.

Melbourne’s beloved Jazzparty (New Orleans revelry with a punk attitude) will headline the night, supported by local favourites Callum’s Young & Old Codgers delivering their trademark swinging jazz. You can also expect a special secret performance, a photobooth, Sydney Road goodie bags, giveaways, roving canapes and drinks, and a competitive catwalk with prizes for winning walkers.

Tickets are $40 and include a drink on arrival. They’re on sale now here.
