Launched in June with the help of Tim Rogers, Melbourne’s own Ella Hooper, Charles Jenkins and Mick Thomas, the program embraces blues and roots, folk, country and alternative country musicians and offers a 12-month music mentorship package, including a trip to none other than Nashville, Tennessee!
The Melbourne heat of the Telstra Road to Discovery will be held at Melbourne University, North Court (next to Union House), on the corner of Elgin & Swanston Streets from 12.30pm on Tuesday August 16. Six local musicians will be chosen to compete at the event, which will also feature performances by Melbourne musicians Harry Hookey (2011 performer category winner) and Gena Rose Bruce (2011 finalist) – and it’s a free gig so if you want to check out some awesome live music, get down there!
