Melbourne hardcore staples Rebirth have announced they will be performing their final show next month. Joined by Outright, Homesick and The Accursed, the band will perform an all ages show at Phoenix Youth Centre on Saturday March 18. Also at the show will be a charity food donation drop off run by Food of Today, with all donations going to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. Chain of Snacks will also be running a vegan food stall to raise money for various animal rights charities.
Melbourne noise-punks Batpiss have announced a new single and an accompanying tour. Entitled Weatherboard Man, the single follows up 2015’s full length Biomass. Guitarist Paul Pirie has described the track as “A universal western theme; inheriting a shit legacy of genocide and disenfranchisement, and realising that once you’ve rattled off all your own personal problems and hardships, you probably still don’t have any right to be standing where you’re standing.” The band will play single launch shows at Sooki Lounge with Don Bosco on Friday March 17 and The Gasometer Hotel on Friday March 31 with Harmony, Cable Ties and TV Haze.
Poison City alt-rockers Postblue have announced their final show and released their final EP. From the band: “2017 marks the end for this band and the beginning of a new chapter for the three of us. Your continual support has afforded us the opportunities to travel the country more times than we care to count, play alongside some of the best bands in the world, and float our creativity for half a decade. For this, we are incredibly grateful. We have curated an EP of sorts comprised of our favourite unreleased material recorded across rehearsal rooms and studios over the last two years – a collection of demos and pre production tracks for an album we never quite got around to finishing. Reformed post-hardcore rockers At the Drive-In have officially announced the release of a new album, their first since 2000’s breakthrough Relationship of Command. Entitled Interalia, the album will be released on Friday May 5 through Rise Records. The band has so far released two singles from the album: Governed by Contagions and the newly released Incurably Innocent.
Post-hardcore mainstays Touche Amore have announced an Australian tour with support from Turnover. The bands’ seven date national tour will see them play the Corner Hotel on Sunday July 9. Touche Amore released Stage Four late last year.
As reported in Beat two weeks ago, legendary Bad Brains frontman H.R. has undergone brain surgery to treat debilitating cluster headaches he had been suffering in recent years. His family has since released a statement explaining that the operation was a success and H.R. is currently resting. Got that PMA.
