Dust off the lanyard and bad tie, because Tools Down: Joey Lightbulb’s Work Christmas Party is back at the Corner.
The second annual Tools Down: Joey Lightbulb’s Work Christmas Party takes over the Corner Hotel on 18 December, with the Melbourne DJ (real name Mikey Cahill) playing a five-hour set in the round between 9pm and 2am.
Forget the usual stage setup. The decks sit in the middle of the room, Boiler Room style, so the crowd surrounds Lightbulb on all sides and the Corner’s notorious poles stop being anyone’s problem.

Lightbulb won’t be clocking on alone. One-off guest spots come from Olympia, Kylie Auldist, Jalmar, Shay Reeves, Mark Ziegelaar, Thndo and Sweetie & The Lady Tradies, with more names still to come. His Runway Slay™ is also back on the agenda, where the best dancers in the room walk away with drink cards.
Dressing up is optional. Punters can turn up as themselves, or they can invent a fake company with their mates and arrive as colleagues, complete with power suits and lanyards. Last year’s winners were a crew trading as The Business of Ferrets, so the bar for corporate branding sits fairly low.
Requests are open via Lightbulb’s Instagram DMs, and the possible playlist runs through Nina Simone, Ninajirachi, The Chemical Brothers, Tom Tom Club, The Avalanches and Underworld. The no dickheads rule he enforces at The Night Cat applies at the Corner too, and the night is strictly 18+.
It’s Lightbulb’s last Melbourne headline show of 2026, following six sold-out Night Cat shows. Before then he’s DJing all three days of Queenscliff Music Festival, 26 to 28 November. Early bird general admission is $54.30, dropping to $38.45 a head for groups of four or more.
