The Gomez duo have just locked in a 14-date Australian run

Words by staff writer

Two of Gomez's founding members are heading back to Australia and New Zealand in March 2027 for a 14-date tour celebrating 25 years of In Our Gun.

Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball have become near-permanent fixtures on the Australian touring circuit over the past few years, returning regularly for intimate duo shows that pull from across the Gomez catalogue and their solo work. This time around, the pair are marking a quarter-century since the band’s third album In Our Gun, which originally brought them to Australian stages for sold-out shows at Festival Hall in Melbourne and Hordern Pavilion in Sydney back in 2002.

The March 2027 run will feature deep cuts from In Our Gun alongside staples from across Gomez’s back catalogue, with the pair expected to roll through tracks spanning their entire career together. Gomez won the Mercury Music Prize for their 1998 debut Bring It On and have released multiple acclaimed records since.

The tour is presented by Love Police, who are celebrating their 30th year in 2027. The promoter first brought Gomez to Australia in 2000 and has continued working with the band and its members through solo and duo configurations ever since.

Locally, Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball will play the Northcote Theatre on 17 March and the Torquay Hotel on 18 March, with the broader tour stretching from Perth through to Auckland across three weeks.
