Melbourne is in for a treat, with Burlesque with Evana De Lune delivering a dazzling celebration of striptease, wit and seduction at The Capitol this month.
Award-winning performer Evana De Lune has become one of the most electrifying names in Australian burlesque, drawing sold-out crowds around the country with her flair for curation and her eye for pairing world-class talent with rising local stars.
This latest show brings together a hand-picked cast delivering showgirl excellence with attitude, spanning everything from classic tease to boundary-pushing neo burlesque.
Beyond her own performances, Evana is a passionate advocate for bodily empowerment, having guided over 10,000 students worldwide through her EDL Studios workshop programs. That spirit of confidence and self-expression runs right through this production.

A celebration built on confidence and craft
“When I look at the local industry, I see such a massive gap in the market for large-scale, high-production burlesque shows,” Evana says.
“We clearly have the calibre of performers required to carry these grand, theatrical spectacles, and we already know the audiences are there, hungry to buy tickets and support live art.”
Fellow performer Zelia Rose, a regular on Dita Von Teese’s touring bill, shares that same drive to push boundaries.
“Evana has been building a legacy that’s inspiring to witness and be a part of. I think one of the challenges of creating shows here is that theatre culture isn’t always revered or respected in Australia in the same way it is in other parts of the world, despite the arts being such a huge part of our cultural landscape and economy,” she says.
“The idea of ‘if you don’t see it, create it’ is a major part of being an independent artist.”
“We’re always taking glamour to the limit in whatever way we can, opulent costumes, a sense of nostalgia, comedy and liberation.
“We get to build fantasy worlds where you can play, be free in your body, and connect to audiences and community.”
Expect a glittering mix of femininity, fantasy and empowerment on the night, with fierce energy and magnetic showmanship from a cast built to seduce, delight and dazzle in equal measure.

A show that champions diversity and belonging
With back-to-back sold-out runs at the Adelaide and Sydney Fringe Festivals already under her belt, Evana continues to prove that burlesque is a thriving, joyful mainstream art form, one that brings people together in celebration rather than judgement.
For Evana, that success is deeply tied to where she and Zelia come from.
“Zelia and I are both mixed-race performers who grew up in the Northern Suburbs, surrounded by immigrants and this beautiful melting pot of cultures,” she says.
“That environment completely shapes the art you create. Burlesque thrives on that kind of diversity and representation. And I think that is the key to getting people to come out to a show.
“It’s about hitting as many different friendship groups and cultural identities as possible, making sure the people in the crowd feel seen and feel loved.
“What better city to represent that kind of vibrant, inclusive community than Melbourne?”
The night is rated R18+, with loud noises, smoke effects and strobe lighting used throughout, alongside frequent mild sexual references and nudity, and occasional mild coarse language.
