Haven't You Done Well Productions is making its first feature film, Crime Casters, a chaotic action-comedy shooting across Melbourne.
Founded by the crew behind Aunty Donna, the company has spent years building a name on bold, anarchic comedy across film, television, online and podcasts. Crime Casters is its first move into cinema, with cameras rolling in and around Melbourne in August.
The story follows Claire, a jaded young reporter who travels to a small country town to record a true-crime podcast. Everything comes undone the moment she watches a police officer dumping a body.

From there she’s pulled into a tangle of cover-ups and conspiracies, taking in sinkholes, UFO believers, missing podcasters and a dead billionaire, all while trying to keep a perfectionist audio engineer on side.
Tonally, the film sits somewhere between true-crime podcast culture, small-town mystery and full-blown crime caper, blended with the kind of absurd, unmistakably Australian humour the team is known for.
Directing is Max Miller, whose past work includes Aunty Donna’s Coffee Cafe and Optics, working from a script by Scott Limbrick of At Home Alone Together. Producing duties fall to Monique Mulcahy, Austin Hayden and Georgia Mappin.
The production has lined up a hefty roster of backers, with Screen Australia and VicScreen leading the way alongside Ludo Studio and the Melbourne International Film Festival Premiere Fund. Rialto takes care of local distribution, while Blue Finch Films Releasing handles international sales.
The team has also carved out its own corner through Grouse House TV, an online home for comedy creators and a launching pad for emerging talent. With Crime Casters, that sensibility is heading to the big screen.
Worth noting for the diehards: this isn’t strictly an Aunty Donna film, even if a cameo or two isn’t off the table. It’s the work of their wider production company rather than the trio themselves, and casting is still to be confirmed.
