Sandbox Music Festival brings its debut national run to PICA in Port Melbourne on 25 September, with the bill still growing.
After teasing a coast-to-coast debut since June, Sandbox Music Festival is finally about to land, and Melbourne’s leg is close.
For the Melbourne stop, Sandbox Music Festival takes over PICA, the cavernous Port Melbourne warehouse turned arts space, for a 10-hour run stretching from 3pm to 1am.

The bill leans hard into techno across its many shades, from rolling groove to the heavier, faster end of the spectrum. Eight international and local acts are locked in so far, and the crew behind it have flagged that more names are still on the way before the day arrives. Sandbox is billing the Melbourne date as its biggest Victorian outing yet, turning the warehouse into a full festival build rather than a single-room club night.
Leading the Melbourne charge is Lee Ann Roberts, the South African selector who has become a regular on Europe’s hard techno circuit and a familiar name across the continent’s bigger rooms. She lines up beside US brothers Beauz, who pivoted from pop-facing dance music into heavier territory, and Mexico’s Junkie Kid, while Sandbox founder Hijckd steps out from behind the curtain to play the festival he built.
Rounding out the international contingent are Belfast’s Mark Blair, Cologne’s Negitiv, Malaysia’s Jovynn and Germany’s DJ Guestlist, a spread that travels from acid techno through schranz and industrial. Sandbox is known for its European-style production, so expect festival-scale sound, lighting and visuals built into the space rather than bolted on.
The day is strictly 18-plus, with food and drink precincts, VIP options and merchandise on site from open to close. Tickets are on sale now through Eventbrite. Melbourne is the third stop on the national run, landing after the Brisbane and Sydney openers, and with the lineup still taking shape there are more artists to lock in before the doors open.
