Get your chainmail out of storage, because Renfair Rave is bringing a medieval fantasy party to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne.
Renfair Rave lands at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne on 20 November, dreamed up by the same crew behind the Melbourne Renfair Festival. That fair, billed as the biggest of its kind in Australia, shifted 14,000 tickets in under 24 hours.

The organisers pitch it as a brand-new event that blends their fantasy realm with the spectacle of a rave, held as part of the Live at the Gardens series. Beyond the decks, the leafy setting will fill with roving entertainers, period décor and, so the promise goes, dragons. It runs for one night only.
Leading the bill is Adriana, a fixture of Melbourne’s community radio scene and one of the more memorable dancefloor selectors going around. She’s joined by Milo Eastwood, a festival-circuit regular whose PBS FM breakfast show has become a morning ritual for plenty of commuters. Between them they cover the city’s airwaves and gig stages.
SWEETIE brings another familiar radio voice to the roster, while Yacht Club DJs make their return after a few years away. The mash-up act built their name by welding genres together into one high-energy, all-sorts party set. It’s a long-overdue outing for the duo.

“People have been asking us to do this for a long time, so it’s great to finally bring Renfair Rave to Melbourne,” Melbourne Renfair Founder, Konga said.
“While we’re taking elements of what people love about the Melbourne Renfair Festival, this is an entirely new event. We’re combining the medieval fantasy world with the energy and spectacle of a great rave. If you love music and being part of something a little different, this is for you.”

Costumes are encouraged, whether you rock up as a knight, an elf, a rogue or a gnome, or you simply come as you are. The event is licensed and all ages, though anyone under 18 needs to be with a parent or guardian.
Tickets go on sale at midday on 21 September through Ticketmaster, with a Live at the Gardens presale opening at 11am on 18 September and running for 48 hours or until the allocation runs out.
