The San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush cheerleaders and a 49ers alumni player will pull up at the American Doughnut Kitchen van for the night, bringing a bit of red-and-gold energy into the heart of the market.
To mark the occasion, the doughnut van is rolling out a football-themed menu just for the occasion, with the Niners Pack, Purdy Dozen Box and Niners Combo all filled with jam and vanilla custard and finished off with a dusting of gold sugar.
Over in E Shed, the [CARDCORE] Night Market will host more than 75 trading card, collectables and pop-culture vendors, along with gaming, competitions and trading zones for anyone keen to swap a rare pull or two.
Beyond the headline acts, the market’s usual winter charm remains firmly in place, with global street food stalls, warming drinks and specialty shopping rounding out the night.
Add in the fire pits scattered throughout the market and it’s shaping up as a proper send-off for a season that’s clearly found its footing with Melburnians.
It’s free to get in, and with the 49ers set to play at the MCG just two days later, it’s a rare chance to catch a slice of NFL culture without leaving the city.
Once the doors close on 9 September, the Winter Night Market will disappear until next season, so this is the last shout to soak up the atmosphere, grab a doughnut and see what all the fuss has been about.
