Melbourne alt-R&B outfit Big Words have unveiled their unreleased track Breathe in an intimate HoMie Store Sessions tiny desk-esque performance.

Store Sessions transforms HoMie’s streetwear hub into an intimate performance space, acting as Melbourne’s answer to NPR’s Tiny Desk concerts.

Known for their cinematic soul and velvet textures, Big Words brought something special to the series with a stripped-back semi-acoustic set, debuting Breathe alongside crowd favourites Carnage, Summer Never Felt This Sad and Trouble.

Big Words join Adelaide rock outfit Bad//Dreems and Tash Sultana in this run of Store Sessions, with new episodes dropping at three-week intervals. Each session supports HoMie’s mission to combat youth homelessness through creative enterprise, turning the flagship store into a platform where music and social impact collide.

Big Words’ Will Scullin says the band loves playing unconventional spaces, and this one really mattered. Performing a new song for the first time at HoMie just felt right, with the energy in the room unlike any other gig.

HoMie co-founder Marcus Crook says Big Words have been part of the HoMie journey for years, playing events and supporting the cause along the way. Having the band’s talents on set for the series felt like a natural fit, especially as Store Sessions wraps up its current run.

HoMie’s Store Sessions, similar to the Tiny Desk series, reimagines retail space as a performance venue with purpose, with each release highlighting the organisation’s impact programs. That includes the Pathway Alliance, which provides training and employment opportunities for young people affected by homelessness or hardship.

Proudly supported by Lonely Lands Agency, Minor Figures, made by Fressko and Remedy Drinks, Store Sessions continues growing into a vital cultural platform where creativity and social change share the stage.
