Get ready to level up your October plans because Big Games Night Out 2025 has dropped its full program.
The massive free gaming festival returns to Fed Square on 9 October with Australia’s first playable experience of Mixtape, the highly anticipated indie adventure from Melbourne studio Beethoven & Dinosaur. This generation-defining game features a phenomenal soundtrack including The Cure, Silverchair, Iggy Pop, Smashing Pumpkins, Joy Division and Portishead!
Big Games Night Out 2025 transforms Fed Square into a wonderland of 80s and 90s games culture, complete with the Electric Arcadia immersive amusement plaza running from 3 October. The Marvel Rivals All-Star Showdown will light up the main stage from 6pm, while the Tabletop & Roleplay Revolution takes over the Edge Theatre for a festival-within-a-festival experience

Electric Arcadia
The centrepiece Electric Arcadia installation, designed by Melbourne’s Callum Preston and interactive artist Louie Roots, captures the spirit of 80s adventure films with futuristic 90s techno vibes. Players can dive into classic arcade games including NBA Jam, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Space Invaders alongside new indie titles like Mixtape and Bones: Wandering Soul.
Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio opens its doors for special Synths of the 80s tours, exploring the instruments that defined the decade’s music movements. The sessions will showcase everything from the Australian-made revolutionary Fairlight CMI to the DX7 synthesiser that powered every 80s ballad.
Little Games Night Out
Family-friendly programming includes the inaugural Little Games Night Out featuring Just Dance sessions, a Kids Cosplay Parade, Dr Hubble Bubble Man and Joey Lightbulbs Family Rave. Free face painting runs from 4pm-8pm.
The Tabletop & Roleplay Revolution presents Melbourne Meeples’ tabletop takeover, the first look at The Sims Board Game, and Indiginerd’s Stranger Things-inspired Dungeons & Dragons live stage show. Life-size playable games and epic doodle dash competitions round out the evening’s entertainment.
