At the centre of the action is Origami Jazz Fight, a Naarm-based five-piece known for their fluid and fearless style. Expect shape-shifting soundscapes spanning jazz, soul, ambient, Afro, R&B and beyond, with the setlist changing as fast as the mood. No two nights will be the same — and that’s the point.

“Musicians of Naarm, bring your gear and your best idea,” welcomes The Beast. “If you feel the pull, jump up and play.”

And if you’re not musically inclined? You’re still part of the interplay. Grab a drink, throw out a genre request, and watch the band respond in real time. It’s all about casual vibes, open expression, and blurring the line between performer and audience.

Notably, bassist Billy (Wayan Biliondana) — a former member of Psychedelic Porn Crumpets — brings deep groove and serious pedigree to the stage, adding another layer of intrigue for fans of Australia’s alternative scene.

Whether you come to chill or come to play, Casual Interplay is making Mondays matter again — one jam at a time.
